Angry man buys noodles then destroys them after vendor ‘insults’ him in China

A man's reaction to being insulted by a street vendor selling noodles in China has gone viral, sparking an online debate. The incident took place in Shandong province at a night market, as reported by the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

The unidentified man expressed his dissatisfaction with the price of a bowl of instant noodles, which was 14 yuan ($2 or Rs 164). He deemed it too expensive.

The noodle vendor attempted to explain, but the man demanded to know the ingredients used to make it. The vendor mentioned using an egg and two vegetable leaves in each bowl.

“How is it possible to sell at 14 yuan each? Too expensive, isn't it?" The vendor decided not to answer and waved him away, which led to the man persistently questioning the reason behind the "high" price.

Things escalated when the vendor's son intervened and shouted at the customer, stating, "If you can't afford it, then get out of there." This angered the customer further, prompting him to inquire about the price of each packet of noodles. He decided to purchase all the packets and ended up paying 850 yuan ($120 or Rs 9,920).

He was so infuriated by the insult that he smashed the packets on the ground and even compensated the vendor an undisclosed amount. A video capturing the incident was shared on several social media platforms.

While the vendor's son apologized for his behaviour, the man expressed that such an apology had no significance. He defended his actions, claiming, "Can't I smash the things I own?"
