74-yr-old man killed, 2 injured in separate robbery bids in Delhi; 3 arrested

Three separate incidents of stabbing-cum-robbery were reported in southwest Delhi within only 30 minutes on Monday, in which a 74-year-old man was killed, and two others were injured.

A 74-year-old man was killed, and two others were injured after three people attacked them in separate robbery bids in southwest Delhi. The three accused who usually targeted people out on a morning walk have been arrested, police said.

The three separate incidents of stabbing-cum-robbery took place in the Sagarpur area within only 30 minutes, they said.

On Monday, at 5:17 am, police received a call regarding a stabbing and robbery incident in the Sagarpur area. Police reached the spot and found that the nearby residents had already rushed the injured man, Ashok (54), to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital.

Ashok later told police that three men on a bike had attacked him at a short distance from his house and robbed him of a wallet and watch.

While police recorded Ashok's statements, within five to 10 minutes, they received two more calls regarding robberies.

In one of the incidents which took place near Mohan block, a 74-year-old man identified as Mohanlal was killed after being robbed of his jewellery and cash.

The other incident took place in the Durga Park area where another man, Omni Dutt Singh, was stabbed and robbed of Rs 500 cash and some documents.

THREE ARRESTED

The series of robberies and stabbings that occurred within just half an hour prompted the police to launch an investigation.

Based on CCTV footage and information provided by the victims, police conducted raids, identified a suspect named Akshay and arrested him in the Palam Vihar area.

Later, his associates, Sonu and Vaibhav, were also detained. Police recovered the knives used in all three incidents and also seized the stolen jewellery, wallets, and watches from the accused.
