IIT Kharagpur and TCS iON join hands to launch online certificate course on AI
IIT Kharagpur and TCS iON have jointly launched a three-month online certification course in AI, aiming to wide-spread artificial intelligence education in tune with Nationally Educational Policy 2020 (NEP 2020).
By India Today Education Desk: IIT Kharagpur has announced an exciting development in technical education. Through its national AI Hub – AI for Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems (AI4ICPS), the institute has launched a new certification course called 'Hands-on AI for the real-world applications (HAAI)' aiming to educate a whopping one lakh individuals about Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
The course is being launched in collaboration with TCS iON, a strategic unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
AI4ICPS: PIONEERING AI EDUCATION
Established under the aegis of DST, Government of India, AI4ICPS, has initiated this course as part of Nationally Educational Policy 2020 (NEP 2020). IIT Kharagpur's Director, Professor VK Tewari, spearheaded the development of the AI course which has been meticulously designed to meet the ever-growing demands of the AI industry as well as implement the recommendations of NEP 2020.
The recommendations include making education accessible to all, promoting hands-on interdisciplinary learning, enhancing skills for better employability, and leveraging digital technology for more effective virtual classrooms.
TCS iON: AN OUTREACH PARTNER
TCS iON has been roped in as a platform and outreach partner for this certification programme. Through TCS iON, LMS platform services will be available, and massive outreach to educational institutions and other targeted audience in India will be possible.
COURSE FEATURES AND HIGHLIGHTS
This three-month programme, conducted over weekends, will be run by faculty from IIT Kharagpur's computer science, electronics, electrical and math departments along with TCS scientists.
It promises delivery of 100 hours of experiential learning, industry exposure, modular quizzes, discussion rooms, live doubt-clearing sessions, certificate of merit for the top 1%, and the chance to interact with industry professionals.
Not only that, but the programme comes with resume preparation guidance from AI4ICPS.
The programme commences on September 2, 2023, and concludes on December 2, 2023. It is open to freshers, individuals pursuing an UG/PG degree, working professionals seeking a career transition to become an AI/ML engineer, and individuals with basic programming knowledge aiming at building careers in IT.
