A man named Uttiya Basu recently shared a distressing experience he had while flying with United Airlines. Mr Basu took to X (formerly Twitter) to recount his ordeal, which involved a flight delay, service issues during the flight, and inadequate provisions for his child.

In a series of tweets, Mr Basu explained that their troublesome journey began with a flight delay. He mentioned that they were travelling from Delhi to Newark with their 3-year-old child who has special needs. Mr Basu had already informed United customer service about his child's requirements over four weeks ago.

According to Mr Basu's tweets, the airline staff failed to load his child's meal onto the flight, even though it was specified on the ticket. He also shared that a flight attendant became annoyed with his son's behaviour, who was understandably feeling uncomfortable in an unfamiliar environment. Mr Basu's wife had to use the food they had brought along to feed their child.

In a follow-up tweet, Mr Basu mentioned that his child started crying due to hunger and unfamiliar surroundings. Trying to distract his son, the father stated that his child began playing with the IFE screen and making excited sounds. However, the flight attendant was impolite and asked Mr Basu's wife to pacify the child.

"While my wife is mixing the cereal, my son is crying due to an unfamiliar place and environment," Mr. Basu recounted. Thankfully, after eating, the child found joy in playing.

The flight attendant told the child's mother, "Ma'am, your child SIMPLY cannot be making any noise. This is rest time, Everyone is sleeping. You are DOING NOTHING to keep him quiet. You need to keep him silent... I have two children and I know how to be a mother to them. You need to do SOMETHING."

Upon receiving Mr Basu's tweet, United Airlines apologized for the ordeal and offered him some vouchers. However, Mr Basu expressed his dissatisfaction with their response. He shared that he was only offered a $100 voucher and received a call from a representative who asked him to pass on the apology to his wife.

The internet was absolutely horrified with the airlines' nonchalant behaviour.
