Manika Batra thanks Aviation Minister for prompt action in helping locate lost baggage

Star table tennis player Manika Batra thanked Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for helping find her lost baggage. The Commnwealth Games medalist had sought help after returning from a tournament in Peru earlier in August.

Table tennis star Manika Batra on Wednesday thanked Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for swift help in helping find her lost baggage. Manika Batra had sought the intervention of the minister after she found her baggage, which included sports equipments, missing on her return trip from a tournament in Lima, Peru.

Manika Batra, on Tuesday, August 8, expressed her disappointment with the airline, saying she had no answers or solutions from the staff at the airport. Manika said she flew business class and did not expect such service from the airline.

Manika Batra was in action in a WTT Contender event in Lima, Peru earlier in August. The Indian paddler reached the Round of 32 in the women's singles event.

Manika raised the concern with the ministry, saying she had important equipments that would be crucial to her upcoming tournaments as part of the baggage that was misplaced by the airline.

Jyotiraditya Scindia responded to Manika's plea promptly on Tuesday and made sure the baggage reached New Delhi later in the day. Manika took to social media to acknowledge the help from the ministry and confirmed that she had received her baggage.

Manika Batra has been in fine form in 2023, having put behind the disappointment of the Commonweath Games in Birmingham. The year started off on a high note for Batra at the World Table Tennis Championships held in Durban, South Africa. She made history by cruising into the round of 32, marking the best singles result for India in the competition's history. Her victory over Singapore's Wong Xin Ru was a testament to her dominance in the sport. Batra's performance was nothing short of spectacular as she comfortably defeated her 171st-ranked opponent with an 11-9, 14-12, 11-4, 11-8 scoreline in the second round.
