The vacancies arise due to various reasons such as retirement, resignation, and additional requirements due to increased student strength.

MISSION MODE TO FILL VACANCIES

The Ministry of Education has directed all CHEIs to fill up the vacancies in 'Mission Mode', which includes a special drive for reserved category posts.

As of August 3, a total of 13,371 vacancies have been filled under the Mission Recruitment drive.

OVER 14,600 FACULTY POSITIONS STILL VACANT

Despite this progress, the minister did not mention the number of remaining vacant positions. Earlier in February, the ministry had informed the Lok Sabha that over 14,600 faculty positions are still vacant in central HEIs.
