By India Today Crime Desk: A 15-year-old boy was thrashed by a shopkeeper after stealing a packet of chips in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district. The video of the same is going viral on social media.
The incident occurred in Rohru's Tikkar bazaar when the victim, named Shiv Kumar, stole a packet of chips from the shop. Following this, in a fit of anger, the accused, Rahul Soni, thrashed the boy, rubbed chili powder in his eyes and later stripped him naked in front of a crowd of onlookers.
A police official said a case was registered against the accused under sections 341 (wrongful restraint) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code, and 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
Furthermore, the police are urging the public not to share the video of the incident on social media platforms.
An investigation is currently underway, and the police have assured that stringent action will be taken against the accused individual.
