Megastar Amitabh Bachchan had once revealed on his blog about the classic film Don's title, and how it was first met with annoyance. Farhan Akhtar has recently announced Ranveer Singh as the new 'Don.'

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan had once spilled the beans about how people had reacted to Don's title when the film was first announced back in the day. For the unversed, it was Amitabh who had played the lead in the Salim-Javed film, which was later rebooted by Javed's filmmaker son and artiste Farhan Akhtar.
WHEN BIG B HAD SHARED PEOPLE'S REACTION TO DON'S TITLE
Taking to his blog, Big B had shared on the film's anniversary, "Does it dawn .. dawn in the recognised morn of the day .. the day doth announce its presence .. or about its presence .. and the world of writing and writers hurriedly adopts the ‘dawn’ to their world .. ‘ it be the dawn of a new world’ .. they say .. or words to that effect .. effective, poetic and composite .. whether the dawn turns to the sunlit day or not irrespective .. or sets into another quiet unknown night for another dawn to re appear .."
Amitabh Bachchan then shared how no one seemed to be on board with the film's title: "Amusingly, when the film DON was announced with me .. many in the world of Hindi cinema were quite unaware of the word don .. what they were familiar with was a product known as DAWN .. the DAWN banyaan (vests) .. vests .. And the market was very sceptical and annoyed with the makers as to why a film title should be about undergarments .. !! Many still are .. (rolling on the floor laughing emoji)."
Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Arbaaz Khan, Javed Akhtar had shared that despite the success of Don, no one came to him and Salim Khan, the screenwriters of the film, with more work.
“We had two releases in ’78 – Trishul and Don and we did not get any film. Jo humare bade producers the (The producers who were with us until then), none of them were willing to touch us for some reason,” he stated.
ABOUT THE NEW DON MOVIES
Farhan Akhtar announced the third chapter of the rebooted version of Don, Don 3, on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the director revealed Ranveer Singh as the lead actor of the film. Farhan's Don 1 and 2 featured superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the titular role.
