Female CRPF constable, her paramour arrested for husband's murder in Bharatpur

A female CRPF constable and her paramour were arrested for killing her husband in Delhi and concealing his body in Rajasthan's Bharatpur.

By India Today Crime Desk: A woman constable working for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and her paramour were arrested for murdering her husband and disposing of his body in Bansur town in Rajasthan's Bharatpur district. The couple committed the murder in Delhi, and buried the body in Rajasthan to avoid suspicion, police said.

The deceased, Sanjay Jat, was living in Delhi with his wife Poonam Jat, who was working as a CRPF constable. She had an illicit relationship with Ram Pratap, a fellow CRPF constable from Bansur village situated in Rajasthan's Bharatpur district, police said.

A few months back, Poonam told Ram Pratap that her husband physically abused her, and asked Ram Pratap to come to Delhi. He accordingly reached Delhi on July 31. The two plotted the murder of Poonam's husband, and killed him.

Following the murder, Ram Pratap took Sanjay's body with him to his hometown, Bansur, and buried it in a plot near his residence.

Meanwhile, the relatives of the victim reported his disappearance at the Khoh police station in Rajasthan. The police initiated an inquiry into the matter and extensively questioned Poonam Jat among others.

Under the pressure of interrogation, she confessed to the crime and narrated the whole incident, Khoh police station officer Girraj Prasad said..

Based on her statement, the police arrested Ram Pratap from his residence on August 4. He gave the police the details of where and how he disposed of Sanjay’s body. The police located and recovered the victim's body accordingly. It has been sent for post mortem as the investigation continues.

Both suspects are currently under interrogation while the officials try to ascertain the murder circumstances.
