A group of miscreants allegedly vandalised a historical dargah and dome of a mosque in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district late on Tuesday night. The incident happened at the historical dargah and mosque of Baba Bajrudiin Shah, located in Chharra area.

Soon after the incident came to light, hundreds of Muslims gathered at the spot, demanding action against the miscreants responsible for the vandalism.

Police were also informed, after which they reached the scene and initiated the repair work on the damaged portion. Police also assured that strict action will be taken against the people involved in the act.

"The aforementioned location is not a mosque but a mausoleum. The small, broken portions above the boundary are being immediately repaired. A case has been registered, and legal action is being taken," said senior police official, Shubhendu Singh.
